How much download data is used when viewing a Question Series?

The best option is to connect to a Wi-Fi network where downloads are not counted, if you are using mobile data, download data will depend on the types of question series you do.

Use the following table as a guide to understand the data usage for a typical Question series with multimedia.

What factors can affect the amount of data in a question series?

With Forget Me Not there are two types of Question Series:

  • Questions with no multimedia so almost no download data will be recorded
  • Question with multimedia such as images, audio clips, videos, weblinks and documents

Things that affect the amount of data downloaded are:

  • The number of questions in the Question Series with multimedia elements
  • The amount and types of multimedia in the Question Series
  • How often you view the questions or resources with videos and audio clips
  • The type of display your mobile device has; low, medium or high resolution display

To help with determining possible data usage on mobile networks some average values are provided for the types of multimedia used in a Question Series

Medium resolution image* 80 kB - 120 kB Image size depends on complexity of the image and number of colours

1 minute of mp3 audio clip 500 kB - 1 MB audio file size depends on quality settings used with the audio
1 minute of mp4 video 3 MB - 4 MB Video file size depends on complexity of the video and quality settings used
1 page PDF document 200 kB - 400 kB PDF file size depends on the complexity of the content and compression settings used

* Images and documents are only downloaded once and then accessed locally from the mobile device for future views
